Ronaldo scores first real goal

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first Real Madrid goal in Tuesday’s Peace Cup game versus Liga de Quito.

The goal came at the 48th minute, when Quito defender, Norberto Araujo tripped Ronaldo in the penalty area after Ronaldo brilliantly got passed two defenders.  The penalty was taken in the familiar Ronaldo style with the pause before the shot.  Cristiano Ronaldo set up the second goal for Real Madrid only five minutes later, when his hot shot was mishandled by the goalkeeper right into the feet of Esteban Granero.

Quito’s coach, Jorge Fossati was ejected from the game after he walked onto the pitch in protest of the penalty shot that was award to Cristiano Ronaldo.  The penalty was clearly justified however.

Real Madrid needed a win in yesterday’s game to move on to the semi-finals of the Peace Cup which will take place on Friday in Seville Spain versus Juventus.

Score:  4-2 for Real Madrid
